Unsere Paxos-Tour

We meet at the Aspri Villa private jetty at around 8.30am. After we have loaded the luggage onto the sailing yacht "Paparouna", we untie the lines. We turn the ship on the Acheron River and slowly head towards the sea. Now anyone who wants to can help a little. The fenders need to be hauled in and the mooring lines stowed. After we reached the sea
Have, it will be time for the first photos.

Now, directly after the long pier that juts out into the sea, the view of the fantastic crescent bay of Ammoudia is fantastically beautiful. Finally we set course for Paxos.257°. The autopilot is switched on and the "breakfast on board" is prepared. Now we have about 2.5 hours drive ahead of us until we reach Paxos. After breakfast you can sunbathe on the bow or hold your fishing rod in the sea. If you want, you can also play the helmsman and steer the "Paparouna". (Children from 8 years)

Four nautical miles from the island we cross a reef that has been fatal to many a seafarer. Starting from about 40 to 50m water depth, the reef protrudes up to only 0.6m below the water surface.
Here the sea shimmers in many shades of blue, so beautiful - no more beautiful - than in the Caribbean.

Now have your camera ready again, because we are entering the port of Gaios. During the mooring manoeuvre, i.e. backwards to the harbor wall, some guests (who also want it) are appointed novice seamen and can attach fenders, hand lines and help with many a hand. "Get ready for shore leave!"

Everyone can explore this beautiful little town individually. If you walk north along the water, you will find an old 10 cylinder radial engine from World War II that fishermen found here.

After about an hour we continue to circumnavigate the island, past the beaches of Paxos. After that we cross a natural channel to the western side of the island. If the sea is "very" calm, a line is lowered into the water and you can test yourself how long you can hold on to the line behind the ship, which is pulling up to 6 people. Uwe drives off slowly and gradually increases the speed. The record has been at 4.8 knots for years. Now it's past caves, grottos, cliffs, limestone walls washed out by the sea, where you can marvel at old Odysseus, a submarine that has turned to stone and lots and lots of nature without much imagination. This stretch of the Ionian Sea can easily compete with the most beautiful coasts on earth.

Around 14 o'clock we reach a cave, into which we drive when the sea is calm, turn around and see a fantastic monolith, which builds up directly in front of us. Then we drive to the “Bay of the Five Caves”. Here we can swim, dive and snorkel. Three of the caves are connected inside, under water. Even a beginner will be able to dive the short distances from one cave to the next.

Uwe finally launched the dinghy. With the outboard motor we drive in small groups into a grotto that makes you hold your breath. After you have passed the narrow driveway and your eyes have gotten used to the darkness, a sight opens up that we will not soon forget. Everything here is bathed in deep blue. You feel like you're in another world. Nobody else makes this excursion into this cave. An excursion reserved exclusively for Aspri Villa guests.

After everyone is back on board, the anchor is weighed and the boat is ready to continue, a small afternoon snack will be served.
We slowly continue north along the west coast until after a 45 minute drive we reach the picturesque port of Lakka. Here we will return from a Caribbean flair to swim or

One would like to stay here, but the journey goes on.

Bay of Sarakiniko

We cross the Ionian Sea to the mainland again. Corfu can now be seen on the port side (left). Some of the guests will be hungry and thirsty by now, but that's quickly forgotten because now there's wine and ouzo as an appetizer for the dinner that is about to begin.

After another 8 nautical miles we enter the bay of Sarankiniko. There is no jetty here and we have to anchor in the bay. A land line is deployed. We now pull ourselves ashore in small groups.

After we the 80 ??? After climbing the steps to the tavern "Angali", the terrace of the restaurant offers us a wonderful view over the southern Ionian Sea down to Levkas. With good visibility you can even see Kefalonia.

The anchor is hauled in and we sail back to Ammoudia. Uwe now gets the guitar out of the owner's cabin and on a great night trip with music,

This Paxos tour ends with wine and guaranteed shooting stars, after arrival in Ammoudia
nothing stands in the way of a nightcap at "Theo".

 Heidi and Uwe

We, Heidi and Uwe Deist grew up in Germany. I, Uwe, ran a company there for over 30 years and didn't want to jump in at the deep end like so many other emigrants did.

We love Greece, learned the language very well and built this enchanting complex with our own savings.

Now that we speak the language, we can show our guests a Greece away from the 'tourist stalls'. We are happy to respond to all your wishes in order to give you an unforgettable holiday.

That's probably why we received the 'Landlord of the Year' award in 2012. We don't rest on our laurels, but are constantly looking for new attractions, on land, on water and also under water, so that even regular guests who have visited our facility more often will not get bored.

In 2020 and 2021 we were rated 9.9 out of 10 on major platforms. Only 5 star hotels can do this in the rarest of cases.

Although we only built two of the three houses a few years ago, innovations are constantly being made in the house and in the garden so that you feel comfortable as a guest in our green oasis.

With our pool heating we can offer you water temperatures of more than 30°C in spring and late autumn.

Each request is answered individually.

There are no sterile computer answers that are all the same anyway.

We chose this part of Greece, built right here, because we know this country from the border with Turkey to the Peloponnese, from the Albanian border to Attiki and also almost all the islands.

Here is "the real Greece".

It often seems to us that the clocks have stopped here: " Still the same as 30 years ago ! "

No coasts built up with hotels, so this part of Greece, between the Albanian border and down to Messolongi, is still seen as old Odysseus did.

Although the entire west coast of Greece is uniquely beautiful, "Ammoudia" is something very special. This great bay, the river that flows into the sea, the people with their friendly, helpful nature, who don't have "dollar signs" in their eyes when they greet you, all this stands for Ammoudia.

If you go through the village you will be addressed in a friendly manner. Many locals speak German, englisch, Italy, and French , which makes it easy for holidaymakers who do not like to communicate in foreign languages to get along here.
